Polymyositis And The Brain Can Brain Be Effected In Advanced Polymyositis?

Can brain be effected in advanced polymyositis? - polymyositis and the brain

If so, how?
Can anyone help?

No, but some of the underlying causes of polymyositis can affect the brain.

"Polymyositis" simply means many (poly) muscle (myös) inflammation (ITIS).

There is no universal agreement on the etiology, but some viral infections (eg, HTLV) or autoimmune syndromes are the main suspects.

Many viral infections and autoimmune diseases can cause encephalitis, cerebral edema and / or cognitive disabilities.

So, in theory, a condition that causes polymyositis may also lead to intracranial pathology as well. I have not read or seen cases that this will happen, so I guess it's rare.
